Our Story

We've known each other for a very long time. We worked together in Dallas in 1999, and were friends ever since. We were married in April 2007 by a local non-denominational minister, and happily brought our baby boy into the world in March 2008. We're constantly working on our marriage, our friendship and our parenting skills.

Dallas Wedding

When we first started talking about getting married, we had grand plans - a beautiful venue, an amazing food selection, lots of drink choices for the guests, and at least 300 guests! Our glee slowly evaporated when we began calling venues, caterers, photographers and furniture rental sources. Our wedding would end up costing us tens of thousands of dollars, and that was before we even added in the alcohol or entertainment! Just the cost of invitations was scary...

We were on a very small budget, and also had two families to please - Anooj's family who is traditional Hindu, and Lisa's family who is traditional Christian. Both sides of the aisle were reminding us of traditional rituals we needed to have, or NOT have, in our wedding. When we took a look at OUR wants and desires for our wedding, and our parents' wants and desires, it was nearly impossible and just downright mind-boggling how we were going to accomplish it all. We finally decided, after having been engaged for nearly 2 years, that we were just going to do it!

We got our marriage license on a Friday, and called our closest friends and family who lived nearby, and asked them to join us at our house on Monday evening. After they arrived, we had a few cocktails, and then headed to a park near our house. We got married under a beautiful white band-stand, and had dinner at a nearby Thai restaurant (that had both vegetarian and non-vegetarian fare for our families).

It couldn't have been more perfect for us.
